FCC Approves New Skypephone From 3 Mobile

A new mobile phone is in the development stage and has been given green signal from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This handset is reportedly marked as WMA8709 and will be named IM2. Made by Amoi, the phone is expected to introduce in market by 3 Mobile.

The news states that the upcoming Skypephone would feature a 3.2 Megapixel camera and WIFI. Furthermore, IM2 will be targeted for 2G networks (UMTS / HSDPA are not supported).
The main purpose of the device is to allow users to make free Skype to Skype VoIP calls and send free Skype instant messages to other Skype users.
Additional functionality is not known at this moment.
The first Skypephone, which came pre-installed with Skype, was released last year.
