Boston TV Stations To Hold DTV Transition Readiness Test

All TV stations in the Boston market have announced that they will team up to perform a DTV transition readiness test. The full transition to digital broadcasts will occur on February 17, 2009. On Tuesday December 9th from 5a.m to 7:30 p.m. they will conduct a DTV Day. The purpose of the DTV Day is to inform TV watchers in the Boston area if they aren’t ready for the DTV transition. The program will use three different approaches to raise community awareness including ads on all outlets to promote the transition; all day uninterrupted digital broadcasts from WGBH-TV and three 2-minute virtual shutdown tests from all outlets at 5:15am, 6:15am, and 5:15pm.
