LG To Introduce Mpeg-4 Built-In Hd Lcd Tvs

LG Electronics introduced MPEG-4 build-in TV ‘LG5500‘ at IFA 2008, which is the first HD LCD TV compatible with the MPEG-4 high definition standard.

An internal MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) HD decoder means that this 42-inch TV is the only full HD model that can pick up new HD broadcasts, with higher quality video and audio, as well as broadcasts in the existing PAL, DVB-T or MPEG-2 standards. No additional set top box or special wiring is required.

Beyond the LG5500, LG extended the line-up of MPEG-4 built-in TV including full HD ‘LG5900(32-inch)’, ‘LG7500(32-, 37-, 42-, 47-, 52-inch)’, ‘LG3500 (32-, 37-, 42-inch)’, ‘PG6500 (42-, 50-inch)’ and ‘PG4500 (50-inch)’ targeting second half of this year. By adopting MPEG-4 decoder to diverse grades of TVs from entry level to premium level, it will widen consumers’ selection.
