ASUS Eee PC 904H & 1000H NetBooks Arrive In India
Asus has announced the launch of its second-generation laptops, namely Eee PC 904H and 1000H in India. These notebooks have broken the conventional Eee PC trend of being the educational device by incorporating middle-end features for users who covet portability with computing applications.
Unlike the Eee PC, the latest 10-inch Eee PC 1000H is powered by Intel Atom processor and runs on Microsoft Windows XP operating system. The 8.9-inch Eee PC 904HD is based on Intel Mobile and Windows XP operating system.
Targeted at a wide segment such as housewives, senior citizens, travelers, social networking enthusiasts and teenagers, the netbooks plan to acts as an extra PC for basic computing applications, listening to music, e-mailing and web browsing.
Benson Lin, General Manager, APAC, Middle East & Africa, ASUS, explained, “With the introduction of Eee PC 904H and 1000H, ASUS brings to India a new segment of netbooks for today’s new age customers who have an innate desire to be connected all the time and see personalized, mobile technology as the way to meet that need.”

Based on Super Hybrid Engine (6-cell), both the Asus Eee PCs boost the battery life for offering a longer operational time. The common features of 1000H and 904HD include 1 G DDR2 DRAM up to 2 GB, 80 GB HDD, Intel UMA graphics support, Hi-Definition Audio CODEC, 10/100 Mbps LAN and 802.11 b/g wireless connection.
“The Eee PC has been received very positively from all over the world as an affordable Internet-centric device. The Eee PC uses the Intel Atom processor, based on an entirely new micro architecture specifically for small devices and low power, while maintaining the Intel Core 2 Duo instruction set compatibility. This is our smallest processor built with the world’s smallest transistors and a fundamental shift in design, small yet powerful enough to enable a big Internet experience on devices such as the Eee PC,” mentioned Gopal Swaminathan, General Manager - OEM Business, Intel South Asia.
Strangely, the both the laptops that possess a different screen size have the same resolution of 1024×600 (WSVGA) with TFT LCD display.

While the Asus Eee PC 1000H netbook sports built-in stereo speakers from Dolby Sound Room 1.3 Megapixel webcam and Bluetooth, the Asus Eee PC 904HD comes equipped with integrated speakers, 0.3 Megapixel camera. However, the 904HD lacks Bluetooth and Dolby Sound system. The 1000H offers a battery life of around 3.8 to 7 Hours, whereas the 904HD delivers up to 3.5 hours of battery life.
The ASUS Eee PC 904H and 1000H netbook carry a price tag of Rs. 26,990 and Rs. 29,990/- respectively. Both the laptops are available in the nation through major retail outlets.
