Verbatim India Launches Lightscribe 8x Dvd+R Double Layer 8.5 Gb Media




Verbatim India introduces the LightScribe 8X DVD+R Double Layer (DL) discs, which has a storage space of 8.5 GB in Indian market. Said to be the world’s first double layer disc, the LightScrive 8X DVD+R claims to be the industry’s fastest DVD DL burning speed.

Verbatim ensures that the LightScribe-certified DVD+R DL disc can burn an entire 8.5 GB capacity within 15 minutes. It is compatible with new multi-format drives and duplicators, most DVD playback devices and the latest software licensed by HP.

When combined, the same drive that burns content to the data side of the disc can be used to burn silkscreen-quality monochrome labels directly on the label side of the discs. The discs are produced with LightScribe Media Version 1.2 coating technology on the label side that provides enhanced contrast for photos, graphics, images and text.

It delivers LightScribe direct-to-disc labeling quality and convenience without requiring any software or firmware upgrades.

According to Ramesh Tuli, Country Manager, Verbatim India, “With our new Lightscribe media users can store up to 3.5 hours of DVD-quality videos, about one hour of HD video or 8.5GB of data that too in minutes. It addresses the growing market need to store an ever-increasing amount of data, while offering built-in protection to keep valuable data, and other important files intact. The complete product line up is designed to cater to the rapidly growing storage market in India.”

The Verbatim LightScribe 8X DVD+R Double Layer 8.5 GB Media is expected to be available in the Indian market for a suggested price of Rs.100 per disc from November.
