Nintendo Wii has been consistent in the race of popularity and sales. In March, NPD stated that Wii ranked first in terms of sales, followed by Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US. In three months, Wii has again accomplished the winning position amongst the trio in the American market.

Japan-based Nintendo’s Wii gaming console has outsold both the video game consoles, mentioned NPD - retail market research firm.

Nintendo sold over 666,000 Wii units in the month of June. While Sony reached a sale mark 405,500 PlayStation 3, Microsoft recorded sales of 219,800 Xbox 360 consoles. Nintendo DS has left everybody behind and recorded a sale of 783,000 units.

It seems that US gamers are more attached to Wii, apparently because of its easy-to-play games and a motion-sensitive controller.

Launched in November 2006, Nintendo Wii has won consumers’ heart as it can be clearly seen that around 11,008,200 units have been sold since its release. The Redmond giant has sold 10,465,900 Xbox 360 units, 4,851,100 PS3 units, according to the Port Washington, N.Y.-based market research firm.

It is amazing that the company has reached such an impressive position in just two-years. The most striking aspect to be considered is that Wii has even beaten the popular mainstream gaming consoles Xbox 360 and PS3 in sales.
