      Fuji Enviromax Digital Alkaline Battery

fuji-enviromax-digital-alkaline-batteryGuess battery companies are finally waking up to the fact that disposables of yore aren’t the way of the future, especially where the environment is concerned. Since that realization, rechargeable batteries have been released but those have not really caught on with the masses since disposable batteries are much more convenient, and you don’t need to bother with charging them to maximum power once they’re exhausted. Well, the Fuji EnviroMAX digital alkaline battery might not be rechargeable, but this is a disposable battery with a green conscience.

La Crosse Bc-900 - Battery Charging With Smarts

la-cross-bc-900Rechargeable batteries are great but they’re kind of an investment especially if you buy good quality ones. I have four sets of four batteries and for that kind of cash you don’t want to ruin them with some junk charger you found in a bargain bin. The La Crosse BC-900 battery charger isn’t new, but I’ve been using one now for almost a year and I’m very impressed with it.

The BC-900 is like a massager for your batteries that takes care of them after a long hard day takes their shoes off and brings them back to life. It does this by allowing you to vary the charging current. The lowest charging current is 200mA which charges 2600mAh batteries in about 15 hours. This is the slowest setting and should keep your batteries going for 200 charge cycles.

t-mobile-to-ship-new-batteries-to-g1-owners-rumorWord coming from the guys at Google and Blog is that T-mobile may give G1 users a belated Christmas gift. Rumor has it, that new, longer life batteries are on the way along with compatible back covers for a perfect fit. The G1 has been plagued with complaints of shortened battery life and this will surely be a welcome gift to G1 fans.

No confirmation has come via T-mobile so for the moment this is strictly in the rumor column but its gaining steam virally and hopefully it comes to fruition.  In the mean time, while we wait lets hear what everyone received for Christmas! We’re going to lay a little low this weekend and enjoy some well deserved relaxation but the news will be back in full force starting next week. Hope everyone had a great holiday!!

At&T Giving Out Free Car Charger For The Iphone…Too Bad It Doesn’t Work

att-giving-out-free-car-charger-for-the-iphonetoo-bad-it-doesnt-workAccording to a tipster at Consumerist, somewhere AT&T has been giving away free car chargers with an iPhone 3G purchase. No big deal, but free is free right? Well, not so much.

The tipster claims that the cord is incompatible with the 3G, leading us to believe that AT&T was simply clearing out inventory from the original iPhone and packaging it as a deal.

Proporta Universal Charger - Power On The Go

proporta-universal-charger-power-on-the-goI’ve been hanging out with a Proporta Universal Charger for a while now, and it’s pretty cool. The thing comes in a slimline pocket happy size, and contains a 3400 mAh rechargeable battery, which you charge up via the USB port on your computer. Once full, it will keep your mobile phone and other handheld devices going for a good while. The company claims you’ll be able to recharge your device between 3 and 5 times, which is pretty impressive if true. It certainly lasts a long time in normal use.

I used it to keep my cell phone going over a recent overseas trip and it was perfect, and I didn’t need to lug around charging cables, international socket adapters or anything else. The kit comes with adapters for all the most popular phones and devices. Recommended. £24.95.

American Lithium Ion Battery Makers Form Alliance

american-lithium-ion-battery-makers-form-allianceA Bailout of Sorts for Battery Makers Too?
Though the Big Three will end up getting their much sought bailout, no one-except, apparently, for Congress and the White House-is under the illusion that the Big Three are on firm footing, especially relative to Toyota, Honda, BMW, and others. Part of the reason behind the Big Three’s current ills is that they fell so far behind foreign competitors in developing new manufacturing and propulsion technologies. Well, it turns out that America isn’t just behind in making new cars, but also in developing the battery technology that will power the hybrid and electric vehicles of the future. In fact, American companies “are five years behind Asians in [their] ability to manufacture the cells.”
